ACE Practical Training
The ACE Practical Training program for Personal Trainers provides the
basic hands-on skills you need to train one-on-one with a client. The ACE
Practical Training program is specifically designed for a newly certified
professional needing assistance designing and implementing a safe and
effective program for their clients, or for individuals with a strong
academic or knowledge base of personal training but lacking the hands-on
skills necessary for a successful career in fitness. The ACE Practical
Training program also allows currently ACE certified professionals a great
way to earn all 1.5 CEC's necessary to maintain their ACE certification.
The comprehensive 15-hour course covers the following five critical topic
areas:
Fitness Assessment: Learn how to effectively administer a health
history screening and appropriately conduct exercise assessment tests,
collecting valuable information that can identify areas of possible health
and injury risks and to aid in the development of an exercise program.
Program Design: Learn how to design and modify a safe and
effective program for an apparently healthy adult and increase the chance
of exercise compliance.
Upper-body and Lower-body Strength Training: Get hands-on
training on how to instruct and spot clients as they perform upper- and
lower-body strengthening exercises, decreasing the chance of client injury
and enhancing the effectiveness of the exercise. You'll learn how to
safely instruct clients in the step-by-step procedures of how to execute
strength exercises for various body parts, including proper body
mechanics.
Flexibility Training: Get hands-on training on how to instruct
and spot clients as they perform flexibility exercises, decreasing the
chance of client injury and enhancing the effectiveness of the exercise.
You'll learn how to demonstrate proper exercise execution and technique
for each of the main muscle groups.
